TRAINING MUST BE DIFFICULT - 2014

Shihan Koos Burger often uses an old Japanese proverb stating that "Training karate is like pushing a cart up a hill". This is probably one of the best descriptions of the continuous effort and commitment required for training and improving one's karate. When you initiate the journey of learning and mastering karate you begin at the foot of the hill, where all you can see are the trees, bushes and rocks around you. It is hard to get any perspective of the layout and landscape surrounding you as you are simply unable to perceive them from your current vantage point.

27TH MID-WINTER DRAKENSBERG GASHUKU - 2014

What can I say to you? So much but I want to share only a few words:
INSPIRATION - COURAGE - MOUNTAIN GASHUKU SPIRIT!
Only 16 SASKA karatekas attended the 22km challenge. Some experienced serious injuries and setbacks! When faced with this dilemma, do you give up or do you go on? The mountain is beautiful but has severe laws. My friends we can learn from this - don't give up on your dreams even if you don't start of well. The Drakesberg Gashuku is a struggle and the victory is within you.

JUNE 2013

The WUKF Karate Championship in Romania was a big success. There were 35 countries. The standard was very high and SASKA win a gold and silver medal. The winner of the gold medal was sensei Paul Fourie for kata and Sensei Laurent Gaston Bellegarde win the silver also for kata. I am proud with the SASKA team. Everybody do his best and although the karate standard was high the standard of our team was in line with the winners. Well done, we are proud to have karateka like Sensei's Laurent, Paul, Nicky and Jacques in SASKA - K.B.
